We offer German courses and support other institutions in the teaching of German language. Up to now, more than 10 000 students learned German at the Goethe-Institut and moved to Germany as students, husbands and wives, and teachers. In the field of library and information services we have also built a reputation.
The Goethe-Institut is a global institution. Since the foundation of the Goethe-Institut in 1951, our emphasis has always been on intercultural work. Our projects therefore are based on the concept of dialogue, contributions from our partners, knowledge, and experiences from all cultures in order to make these relevant and meaningful for participants and audiences.
Since 1961, we have had the enormous privilege to be inspired by some of the renowned and upcoming artists, intellectuals and academia from Ghana, Germany, and other countries. Often we were able to become a catalyst and to provide a platform for their artistic and aesthetic encounters as well as for collaborative projects.
The theme of this anniversary is “The Past, Present & Future of Making a Difference”.
We want to reflect on the evolution of the arts, its development, achievements and perspectives for the future in the next fifty years.
We want to reflect on the evolution of the arts, its development, achievements and perspectives for the future in the next fifty years.
The Golden Jubilee celebration, beginning in March 2011 and ending in December 2011, will showcase the works of our Ghanaian and German partners in a kaleidoscope of exhibitions, a fashion show, music concerts and film screenings. We would also have panel discussions, a quiz and we will present our publications of different issues that we have worked on over the years.
